The Frostwright Atelier
Frostwright · Frostwright's Atelier
At the upper edge of town, where the last paved road gives way to scaffolds, frozen gardens, and the unfinished horizon.

The hand behind Verglas’s rooftops, gardens, painted doors, and improbable little corners.
The Atelier is part house, part workshop, and part architectural experiment that has quietly escaped its original plans.
Its lower walls are built from dark timber and pale stone, scarred in places by years of tools, ladders, and alterations. The upper rooms are framed in iron and frosted glass, catching the shifting light of Verglas and scattering it across the snow in soft blue and amber panes.
Visitors approach along a broad path lined with half-finished statues, stacked lumber, old street signs, and scale models of buildings that may or may not ever be built. A long drafting window faces the town below. At night, its light remains visible long after the other workshops have gone dark.
The front door is painted a different color every season.
Inside, the air smells of cedar, mineral paint, paper, and warm metal. Walls disappear beneath sketches, maps, landscape studies, material samples, and pinned fragments of future streets. Brushes stand beside chisels. Rulers share drawers with pigments. Tiny model houses occupy every surface not already claimed by books or tea.
Nothing is perfectly tidy, but nothing is truly misplaced.
Crossing the threshold feels like stepping into the place where Verglas is imagined shortly before it becomes real.
At the door
I am Frostwright, builder, painter, draftsman, and occasional repairer of things that were never designed to exist in the first place.
I care about good materials, patient work, and places that feel inhabited rather than merely finished. Most of Verglas has passed beneath my pencil or brush at one time or another, though I try not to leave too much of myself showing in the grain.
Visitors are welcome, especially those carrying strange plans, unfinished ideas, or something broken that deserves a second life. Knock firmly. The workshop is loud, and I am often several rooms away arguing with a staircase.

A letter is read in the record it was carried into. The post road lists every crossing.
